3 Must do Things in Port de Pollenca/Mallorca

10th June 2016

In Mallorca we had the perfect base for exploring. Our week consisted of the perfect mix of relaxing in our Villa & driving out and seeing what we could find. We did a tiny bit of research but tended to just drive out and see what we stumbled across. In my opinion to fully enjoy a mixture of things in Mallorca/Port de Pollenca area you need a car. On a previous trip we didn’t have one and I 100% will say this time was a much more enjoyable holiday, but each to their own.

My Top three things you should do in Mallorca

Go for a drive & grab some lunch at Mirador de Foradada

We went here on one of our first days in the Villa, it was about an hours drive but the views along the way were amazing. And you spot alot of goats just casually walking along the side of the road, which I wasn’t expecting. The parking here was a bit crazy, and the menu wasn’t that extensive. But I went for a chicken salad and it was one of the nicest salads I’ve ever had and now I know that I like walnuts! For all the cons for this place, which there weren’t many of, the views completely made up for them. We sat out on one of their balconies in the sun and had a very relaxing meal. There’s a little island just beside it which we saw people walking along. We didn’t actually find how to get to it, but if we come back it’s firmly on the to-do list.

Watch the Sunset at Cap de Formentor Lighthouse

This is a complete must do! Chris found this on a dangerous roads website so I wasn’t up for driving it, no way. But, it wasn’t as bad as I thought and Chris quite enjoyed the windy roads (think he thought he was an extra in Tokyo Drift) and I enjoyed the coastal views and the sweet baby goats in the hills. It’s actually a working lighthouse but there wasn’t many people up there. I think this is because of the ‘scary’ drive, and it’s quite out of the way if you don’t have a car, although we saw one crazy person cycling up. The sunset was unbelievable and you could actually see Port de Pollenca light up as the sun went down. Grab a blanket, some snacks and a drink and make sure you visit here on your Mallorca holiday!

Walk along the Port and grab some ice cream

What’s a holiday without ice cream? The port of Pollenca is beautiful, it’s got sandcastle sculptures, blue sea & some very pricey boats docked up! It was so nice to take some time out from exploring to grab an ice cream and sit and people watch. The ice cream parlour had flavours I could only dream of and can’t wait to try some more on our next trip!

We’ll definitely be back, and I can’t wait to explore some more of the Island of Mallorca! Let me know your favourite thing to do here!
